Domestic Violence services

Domestic or family violence can happen to anyone at any time—it doesn’t discriminate. It occurs when someone tries to control you, a friend, or a family member through physical, emotional, sexual, spiritual, financial, or property abuse.

This kind of abuse is meant to create fear and control a person’s actions. At its core, all abuse comes down to an imbalance of power. Family violence doesn’t just hurt those directly affected; it impacts entire families and communities. If you or someone you know is going through this, we’re here to offer support and help you find a path to safety and strength.

If you are in danger, call 911
or Victimlink BC at 1‑800‑563‑0808.

For local support, contact Jean Scott Transition House at (604) 869-5191

You can also visit the BC Society of Transition Houses and VictimLink BC.

What is abuse?

Abuse is any action to harm,
control, or intimidate another
person. It can involve:

Forcing someone to do things against their will

Actions that cause physical or emotional harm

A pattern of behaviour that leaves you feeling powerless

Ask Yourself

Have you argued where your partner hurt, insulted or verbally attacked you?

Have you ever felt afraid of your partner’s behaviour, such as reckless driving, substance use, or threats?

Has your partner stopped you from seeing friends, getting a job, attending school, or practising your faith?

Do they criticize how you look or dress, constantly putting you down?

Have you been blamed for every problem in the relationship?

Have you been pressured or forced into sex or made to do things you were uncomfortable with?

Does your partner keep you in the dark about your finances or control your money?

Have you been threatened or belittled in front of your children?

If you answered “yes” to any of these, you may be experiencing abuse in your relationship.
Remember, abuse is never your fault, and it’s not something you have to face alone.

We offer services to provide support,
guidance, and hope to those in need.
